Hempstead beach conditions
The Town of Hempstead's ocean beaches line the barrier island, from Jones Beach State Park to Point Lookout and Atlantic Beach, with bay beaches along its south shore inlets. Conditions differ by beach; check posted flags, lifeguard instructions and current county advisories before swimming.

The Nassau County Department of Health samples bathing beaches during the season and posts closures and advisories, including rainfall advisories at beaches affected by storm water. Check the posting date; this site does not infer a current advisory status from old results.

Baldwin, Parsonage Cove, Hempstead Bay (NOAA station 8516501) is the tide reference, and NOAA buoy 44065 (New York Harbor Entrance buoy) provides offshore wave and water-temperature observations; neither is a beach safety guarantee or a surf forecast for a particular beach.
